The Walk-On’s Independence Bowl Kickoff K’s presented by Orangetheory Fitness hit the streets for the fourth year this past Saturday, and the event featured its first half marathon.
The event saw 307 runners between the 5K and half marathon, the largest number of runners in the event’s four-year history. The runners took to the streets of Shreveport’s South Highland neighborhood, competing for overall and age-group cash prizes.
The overall male and female winners of the half marathon received a $1,000 cash prize, and the male and female winners from each age group (20-and-under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-and-over) won $100 apiece. The overall men’s and women’s winners of the 5K took home a $250 cash prize, and the male and female age group winners of the 5K received $50 each.
