Annual NSU/Independence Bowl Kickoff Luncheon Returns to Superior’s Steakhouse August 24
SHREVEPORT, La. – The Northwestern State football season is just a few weeks away, and the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl is once again helping kick off the NSU football season to the Shreveport-Bossier area with the annual Northwestern State/Independence Bowl Kickoff Luncheon on Thursday, August 24 at Superior’s Steakhouse.
The luncheon, being hosted for the 27th consecutive year, will begin at noon and comes nine days before the Demons kick off their football season against 2022 Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl participants, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. NSU plays Louisiana on Saturday, September 2, before heading to Ruston to take on Louisiana Tech on Saturday, September 9.
The NSU/Independence Bowl Kickoff Luncheon is $20 and includes a salad, plated meal and dessert. Reservations are being accepted now through the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl office by calling 318.221.0712 or by emailing Emalee Butler at [email protected]. All payments will be accepted at the event, so attendees are asked to bring cash or a check to the luncheon.
“This event is something that continues to excite our staff here at Northwestern State,” said Director of Athletics Kevin Bostian. “The Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl has been a longtime partner of NSU Athletics, and we have created a mutually beneficial relationship with (Independence Bowl Executive Director) Missy Setters and her staff. Beyond the partnership, this is a signal that football season has arrived and gives our expansive alumni base in Shreveport a chance to get an inside look at the 2023 Demons.”
Bostian, fifth-year Demons head coach Brad Laird and Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl leadership will be on hand to address the attendees. Bostian and Laird will preview the upcoming football season, while bowl officials will provide updates on the 47th Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl – set to kick off on Saturday, December 16 at 8:15 p.m. between the Big 12 and Pac-12.
