Junior Tennis Classic Welcomes Over 200 Youth Tennis Players to Shreveport-Bossier This Weekend

 

SHREVEPORT, La. (April 1, 2025) – Hundreds of youth tennis players from across the country will be flocking to Shreveport-Bossier City this weekend for the annual Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl Junior Tennis Classic – a USTA National Level 5 Tournament to be played this Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6. 

The tournament – featuring singles and doubles draws for Boys and Girls in the 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U age groups – has 205 tennis players registered from 15 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.

The singles draw will feature up to 16 entries for each age group, and doubles will have up to 16 pairs in each. Singles will be a “modified feed-in consolation” format, while doubles will be single elimination. Boys and girls 12s and 18s will be played on hard courts, while Boys and Girls 14s and 16s will be played on clay. Admission to all match sites will be free and open to the public for the entirety of the tournament.

RACKETS ON THE ROCKS

The night before the Junior Tennis Classic, this Friday, April 4, the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl is hosting the inaugural Rackets on the Rocks at Pierremont Oaks Tennis Club from 6-8 p.m. 

The event is open to the public and will feature a social hour from 6-7 p.m. and a “Hit for Prizes” session from 7-8 p.m. The social hour will feature free chips, salsa and queso from Superior Grill, margaritas, and other hor d’oeurves. The “Hit for Prizes” session is free for Independence Bowl Foundation members and $20 for non-members. Participants will hit a tennis ball over the net, and whichever prize they hit with the ball, they win. Tickets will be sold at the event, and both cash and cards will be accepted.

Proceeds from Rackets on the Rocks will benefit the Independence Bowl Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers initiative – benefiting local educators and classrooms.
