Kickoff K’s 5K and Half Marathon Hits the Streets this Saturday

For the fifth consecutive year, the Walk-On’s Independence Bowl Kickoff K’s 5K and Half Marathon presented by Orangetheory Fitness will hit the streets of Shreveport this Saturday, September 28.

For the second consecutive year, Kickoff K’s will feature both a 5K and half marathon. The races will be managed by Sportspectrum, and registration for 2019 Kickoff K’s is open now at runsignup.com/Race/LA/Shreveport/KickoffKs. Registration for the half marathon is $70 prior to race day and $75 on race day, and registration for the 5K is $30 prior to race day and $35 on race day.

Both races will kick off early in the morning, with the half marathon beginning at 7 a.m. and 5K starting shortly after at 7:15 a.m. All runners for both races will receive a custom “Walk-On’s Independence Bowl Kickoff K’s” t-shirt, and runners who finish the half marathon will receive a medal. 

The half marathon will be run through the historic South Highland neighborhood, including scenic streets such as McCormick Street, Creswell Avenue, Thornhill Avenue, Ockley Drive, Unadilla Street and Fairfield Avenue.

The overall male and female winner of the half marathon will receive a $1,000 cash prize, and the male and female winners from each age group (20-and-under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-and-over) will win $100. The overall men’s and women’s winners of the 5K will receive a $250 cash prize, and the male and female age group winners will receive $50. 

Second place finishers in each age group for both the 5K and half marathon will receive an Orangetheory Fitness swag bag, three free Orangetheory Fitness classes and a $35 gift card to Orangetheory Fitness. Third-place finishers for each age group will receive an Orangetheory Fitness water bottle and one free Orangetheory Fitness class pass.
